Dr. Nixon is launching a program to help veterans combining equine-assisted therapy (brushing/grooming a therapy trained horse) with cognitive processing therapy (understanding thoughts and feelings). The program will operate 12 wks in the fall and 12 wks in the spring. After initial 12-wks, participants could register for the next 12-wk session.​ A similar 12-week program developed and tested in 2019 showed a significant reduction in anxiety and PTSD symptoms for the veterans who participated.
